The market rewarded this leading BEE investment company in May 2005, when it clinched a R7,2bn deal with Old Mutual. The share went from 20c in November 2001 to 160c in July 2005. But since then it has moved to around 820c in just under two years, having touched a high of 860c.

Brimstone points out on its website that a R10 000 investment five years ago would now be worth R245 000, an annualised compound return of 84%/year. More than 50% of equity is in black hands.
