Murray & Roberts is turning into a story of a magnificent turnaround. CE Brian Bruce was brought in at a difficult time, about six years ago, and he promised to halt the decay of the 1990s. In harsh market conditions, and in spite of a strong rand and poor infrastructure expenditure, Bruce concluded a structural adjustment programme two years ago and declared a new agenda of securing a place for the firm on the world stage. He has steered the group in a number of strategic acquisitions.
