Massmart continues to defy the pundits. It's a general merchandising conglomerate and has no stores trading under the "Massmart" banner, which sometimes makes identification difficult. But there's no denying the huge potential of this company . Sales are forecast to nearly double to June 2007 from an already high base. Profitability should improve too. The mix of businesses under the Massmart umbrella is superb and well positioned to cope with virtually any economic conditions. That has been proved by its resilience in the face of currency weakness and strength alike. Investors could double or triple their money on a two- to three-year view.
